| | Information about Ethiopia |
Situation |
Because of civil wars and famine which have shaped Ethiopia again and again, it is one of the poorest countries in the world today.
Many people live very close to the subsistence level. Desperate mothers send their children and teenagers to the streets who then try to survive be begging, doing small jobs like cleaning shoes or even by prostitution. The HIV-rate among teenagers is appallingly high.
Without any help they will not break out of this circle of poverty.
